Student Code of Ethics

As a valued student of The Motivational Edge, I will adhere to the following:

1. I will respect myself and respect all others because it is essential for success. Therefore; I will treat my peers, adults and superiors with respect, and will use appropriate and courteous language.  

2. A strong individual work ethic is necessary in order to strive for excellence and success! Therefore; I will try my very best during class at ME and at home.  I am always willing to perform at my highest level.  I know that all ME staff and members are here to help me succeed in life.

3. Showing up to school prepared is a vital part of the learning process and attendance is mandatory.
Therefore; I will show up to school prepared and not will miss more than 4 classes in any calendar year, unless it is approved by the administration of my school, parents/guardians or a doctor.

4. Trust is essential for relationships and for each student to excel.
Therefore; I will be loyal to all members of The Motivational Edge, including myself, and I will handle disagreements in an amicable way by getting a staff member to intervene. 

5. Fighting and roughhousing are unacceptable. Therefore; I will abstain from inappropriate physical behavior.  

6. Graciously accept constructive criticism that will make me a better person. Therefore; I will listen to and acknowledge constructive criticism whether it is given by a peer or staff member.  I will not be afraid to ask questions, and if I do not know something I will ask a staff member or peer.
Q:  Why is my child having difficulty in school and not reaching full potential?
A:  The answer for this question varies for each student.  For some, the issue is with fundamental skills development.  For others improvement may be needed with study habits or organizational or test taking skills.  Another child might need to focus on a particular subject such as Reading, Math, or Language Arts.  Whatever the need, our staff of qualified teachers is committed to work with your child to motivate him/her to the joy of reaching their full potential.

Q: How will my home schooled child benefit from The Motivational Edge?
A:  Our knowledgeable educators provide curriculum based instruction to supplement home school education in a comfortable social environment where students are engaged in the learning process while providing and opportunity to work collaboratively with other students.

Q: Can you help if my child has a learning disability or concentration problem?
A:   Yes!  We modify our approach to accommodate individual needs and employ strategies to increase attention span and concentration while improving academic skills.

Q: Can my child enroll in more than one program offered at the center?
A:  Yes. A child with us for homework assistance might also benefit from small group or individual instruction in a particular subject area.  This can be conveniently arranged.

Q:  Are summer programs helpful?
A:  Research indicates that students who include academic study during the summer months achieve at a faster rate upon returning to school.
