ME provides youth with a creative outlet for musical expression, while at the same time integrating components of literacy into our music programs. Success in school is a vital part of ME's mission. Using music as a motivational and learning tool, we will draw the underachiever toward desperately needed academic instruction.
Our own youth are walking testaments to the fact that music is an extremely powerful learning tool when integrated into the academic setting. Our unique programs integrate reading and writing skills with music instruction in innovative ways, which motivate and dramatically benefit youth. For example, ME's music production program, "RAY- Recording Arts for Youth", includes a cutting edge writing component, which emphasizes different writing styles, types of poetry, and various forms of lyrical developments which improve performance in the classroom and on standardized tests. This also provides a rare and safe outlet of expression for our underprivileged youth.
Our DJ Program teaches youth all of the fundamentals of DJing. Throughout the course of the program the students will learn how to properly set up and troubleshoot industry standard equipment, learn the essential concepts behind DJing such as beat matching, mixing, effect incorporation and performance. Students will also become proficient with all the industry standard DJ and Music production software. Lastly, students will learn the basics of remixing current music and recording professional demos.
The Motivational Edge has many music programs that provide students with a chance to learn; many of whom have never even held an instrument in their hands.
We focus on teaching young students to maximize their learning capabilities and skills by way of academic discipline, which is enhanced and developed through music education.
