To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing this letter on behalf of The Motivational Edge and its founder, Ian Welsch .We met Ian in 2008. From our very first phone conversation, he truly showed interest in helping tutor my son, Michael. As Michael attended his tutoring sessions with Ian, Michael immediately showed improvement and more important bonded with Ian. This was the only time Michael had ever felt that someone truly cared about his educational outcome.

Michael continues to be involved with the Motivational Edge through their DJ classes. Michael is now a teenager and ME has provided Michael the opportunity to do something positive through music. The opportunity provided by ME has given Michael the ability to showcase his talents. It is important to realize that not all kids excel in our educational system and that some kids excel in other creative ways.

That's the essence of ME. Taking in kids that need that a place to belong to, a place where they are given the opportunity to grow based on their own merits. A place that boosts self esteem, a place that nurtures them and helps them achieve their full potential.

You see, we can tell kids we care about them…. But it's actually what we do for them that truly has an impact on their lives. Ian and their instructors understand this and emphasize the potential in each child rather than focusing on what they lack.

I for one, know the impact ME has had in my son's life. Michael has a place at ME. He looks forward to coming in and working with his DJ instructor on the weekend. ME is a haven for Michael. It is a small part of our busy world set aside just for him where he can truly be himself and meet other kids who feel the same way.

As an educator, I could only wish that other children had the opportunity that has been granted to Michael. Ian and his staff are amazing! They know on an individual basis each and every one of the children. They offer a mentoring program like no other. It is important to keep in mind that our community is a better place when our children receive care and guidance in their formative years.

On a more personal note, Michael sees Ian as a positive role model. In today's society when a young man is so easily influenced by others, we are extremely fortunate that Michael can see first hand the good that comes from caring for others. Ian has been instrumental in providing Michael with a sense of worth and belonging. Because of my new work schedule, I am at times not available to take Michael to his DJ c lasses. Ian doesn't let Michael miss his class, he will make arrangements to pick him up and take him to his DJ classes. And I know he does this for other children as well.

Thank God for the Ian's in our lives. It is their hard work and mission that make our world a better place for our children!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the amazing experience that my son, Daniel Gonzalez, who attends 5th grade at Coral Bay Charter Academy, has had during his science classes at the FCAT CAMP provided by “The Motivational Edge, Inc.”.

Throughout this program, Daniel has been exposed to a variety of hands on science activities that have allowed him to deeply understand the new concepts that he has been learning in science.

As a mom, I see that Daniel has discovered how to enjoy science and I am pleasantly surprised when every Saturday morning Daniel shows me his enthusiasm to go to the FCAT Camp. As a consequence, Daniel‘s self esteem has improved as well, because everything about these new concepts in science make sense to him and are easier for him to understand.

I am very pleased that this FCAT Camp program was available at my son’s school and affordable to us for all the economical support that “The Motivational Edge, Inc.” has provided to our family.

My daughter Julissa was taken out of the public school system upon entering sixth grade for various reasons, but mainly because she didn't enjoy going to school and on several occasions there were communication problems with some of her teachers. I was in dire need of finding an alternative for my daughter and it needed to happen fast. I came across The Motivational Edge from a local ad in the newspaper and contacted them. I immediately loved his philosophy which was, "The student comes first". I told them about Julissa's problems in school and they assured me they could work with her. The Motivational Edge said they would be able to help her, just bring her in so they could meet her. The Motivational Edge guaranteed me success as long as she was committed to her studies.

Upon beginning the tutoring I was nervous that Julissa wouldn't enjoy this experience either. I was amazed to see her come out of the session excited and eager to continue. The Motivational Edge was very firm with her in setting rules and responsibilities but they also made the learning enjoyable. Her and her teacher would do science experiments, math projects, social studies projects, reports, etc. As the year progressed, I saw Julissa making gains like she never had made before and it really showed on her FCAT exam. She got passing scores in both Reading and Math.

The Motivational Edge has helped my daughter realize that she can be a great person and student. All it takes is hard work and discipline and anything can be achieved. The Motivational Edge staff had a way of relating to Julissa in a way that no other teachers could, which motivated her to try her hardest and achieve her best. I am very grateful for finding The Motivational Edge, as it has helped my daughter tremendously.
